Scituate Youth Lacrosse is dedicated to promoting the sport of lacrosse for boys and girls in Scituate. We aspire to be an organization providing a high quality experience for every child by striving to build a culture with the highest personal integrity
The 1st & 2nd grade boys program is designed with the goal of teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport. The program will be skill based development program, emphasizing fun. Practice will be once per week (1 hour) and Small ball games on Sundays. Practices will be structured primarily in a “station format” with all kids receiving equal instruction. Any Scrimmages/games will be “small ball“format. The benefit of the small sided games is that it will maximize the number of "touches" that each kid has with the ball thereby improving skill development and encouraging participation. Over the course of the season we hope to enter teams into 2 or 3 local jamborees and play at half time of a Scituate High School Game.
3rd and 4th Grade Boys Lacrosse:
This group will play in the Town Pride League (TPL). Practices will be held 2 times a week. Games will be Jamboree format, 2 or 3, 20 minute games on Sundays. All games will be small ball (6v6).
5th - 8th Grade Boys Lacrosse:
This group will play in the Town Pride League (TPL). We are a grade based program. The format will be A/B when possible. Practices will be held 2 times a week. Games will be full field 10v10 and 1 hour long.
When possible we will field 2 teams per grade. One team at the “A” level and one team at the “B” level.
In 5th and 6th grades, all field players will use a “Short Stick” – No “Long Poles”. 7th & 8th grade defenders will use long poles.
At each grade level we may also select a small group of players who we will use to fill absences at both levels.
To maintain player safety, we will not substitute players that we feel are not ready for competition at a higher level.
